The El Salvador basketball team, nicknamed "Los Truenos" (The Thunder), is a national basketball team representing El Salvador in international competitions. Formed in 1938, the team is governed by the Federación Salvadoreña de Baloncesto (Salvadoran Basketball Federation) and is a member of FIBA Americas. Despite a rich basketball history dating back several decades, El Salvador's international presence has been limited due to various factors. The team has participated in a few regional tournaments and made sporadic appearances in continental competitions but has yet to qualify for major global events such as the FIBA World Cup or the Olympics.

In recent years, efforts have been made to revitalize the El Salvador national basketball team. The federation has implemented youth development programs and organized regular training camps and competitions to improve the skills and competitiveness of the team.
